Rodberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rodberg was an old rural settlement ( Franconian Honnschaft ) and belonged to the Empire Abbey of Werden .

It was above the Ruhr , between Hinsbeck and Werden , on the border with Dilldorf . On October 12, 1499, the boundary between the Rodberg community and the Hardenberg peasantry Rottberg was established in a land divorce before the Werden court, with the questioning of witnesses.

On January 15, 1875 , the community of Kupferdreh was formed from the honnships (Hundreds) Rodberg and Hinsbeck, which until then belonged to the community of Siebenhonnschaften in the mayor's office of Werden-Land .

In 1899 Dilldorf , which originally belonged to the Hardenberg mayor's office in Neviges, became part of the Kupferdreh mayor's office.

In 1930, a small part of Rodberg was split off through border straightening and assigned to the city of Velbert . This small part is now part of the Hefel district .

There was also hard coal mining in this area, because in 1528 the "Sickelberger Stollen" in Rodberg was first mentioned. In 1787 the "Zecheiefe" in Rodberg is called.

The Krupp night light system , which was created by the Luftwaffe to deceive the Allied bombers on the Rottberg and the neighboring Ludscheid, resulted in numerous bombing raids on the rural area.

coat of arms

Rodberg coat of arms

Blazon : "Divided into gold (yellow) and blue with a pinnacle, covered with a golden (yellow) upright booze pen ."

The coat of arms was designed by Kurt Schweder and never had an official character. At the end of the 1980s, the heraldist created coats of arms for all of Essen's districts.

The coat of arms is a so-called " talking coat of arms "; the spearhead (here a booze pen) stands for "Rod-" (from "clearing") and the pinnacle for "-berg". The colors are the Essen colors.
