Edward "Eddie" Hardin (born February 19, 1949 in London ; † July 22, 2015 ) was a British rock musician ( keyboards , vocals ), who became known as a member of the Spencer Davis Group and Hardin & York .

Life

Eddie Hardin succeeded Steve Winwood at the Spencer Davis Group in 1967 . Hardin left the band in 1968 to look for new opportunities.

Soon after, he teamed up with Pete York (drums), who had also left the Spencer Davis Group . The two began in 1969 to perform as a rock duo under the name Hardin & York . In 1972 Ray Fenwick (guitar) joined Hardin & York and they performed as Hardin, York & Fenwick .

In 1972 Hardin released his first solo album Home Is Where You Find It , which was followed by several more over time. In 1973 there was a reunification of the Spencer Davis Group , which had since been disbanded , and which appeared again and again later. Also Hardin & York went through several revivals .

In addition, Eddie Hardin worked intensively with musician friends on their projects, such as Roger Glover , Ray Fenwick and Charlie McCracken . He played in bands like Butterfly Ball and Axis Point .

Eddie Hardin recorded a number of albums with his Wizard Convention . Well-known colleagues such as Chris Farlowe , Maggie Bell , Jon Lord , Zak Starkey and many more took part.

In 1985 Hardin set the children's book The Wind in the Willows to music as a musical, with the participation of Tony Ashton , Maggie Bell , Donovan , John Entwistle , Jon Lord, Ray Fenwick and many others. In 1991 there was a performance of it in Freiburg im Breisgau , which was released on DVD in 2009.

Hardin died of a heart attack on July 22, 2015 while swimming in the pool . In March he could be heard on tour in Germany with Spencer Davis .
