Carlos Roqué Alsina (born February 19, 1941 in Buenos Aires ) is a French composer of classical music of Argentine origin.

Live and act

Alsina studied music theory, piano and conducting with Teodoro Fuchs in Buenos Aires from 1952 to 1960 . From 1959 to 1964 he was a member of the Agrupación Nueva Música . Until 1966 he lived as Artist in Residence in Berlin , where he met Luciano Berio and then worked as an assistant to Bruno Maderna . Then he was a member of the Center of the Creative and Performing Arts at the University of Buffalo until 1968 , to then work at the Juilliard School of Music . He was back in Berlin until 1972 and then moved to Paris . From here he went on concert tours as a pianist and conductor through Europe and America. Together with Vinko Globokar , Michel Portal and Jean-Pierre Drouet , he formed the improvisation ensemble New Phonic Art from 1969 , which set standards with its playing. He has had French nationality since 1986. He was piano professor for 9 years at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse in Lyon .

Alsina composed over a hundred works, including two symphonies and other orchestral pieces, piano works, works for chamber ensembles , a woodwind quintet , an oratorio , a requiem , choirs and vocal works with instrumental accompaniment. His pieces have been performed at the Donaueschinger Musiktage , the Darmstadt Summer Courses or in Tanglewood , among others . On the occasion of his 60th birthday, the work "Phares et Rayonnements" was created. Since 2003 he has been the artistic director of the Ensemble MusicAvanti in Paris.
