Friedrich Attenhuber
Friedrich Attenhuber (born February 19, 1877 in Burghausen , † December 17, 1947 in Kreuth ) was a German painter .
The son of a train driver and a factory worker studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from April 27, 1898 (matriculation number 01826) and opened his own studio in Munich in 1909. The acquaintance with Luitpold Emanuel Herzog in Bavaria (1890–1973) was decisive for his further life . Attenhuber initially worked as his painting teacher, accompanied him on numerous trips and eventually became the house architect and house painter for Luitpold Emanuel's ambitious building project Schloss Ringberg . Attenhuber lived on Ringberg from 1922 until his death and was exclusively tied to the project, but until 1945 received no regular fee other than board and lodging. On December 17, 1947, he threw himself from the tower of the castle. Looking back on his life, he must have admitted to himself that he had sacrificed his prime to a questionable work and that both his development as an artist and his personal development had reached a dead end.
