Konrad von Ergersheim († February 19, 1203 ) was Elekt von Bamberg from 1202 until his death .

Life

Konrad von Ergersheim is said to have come from a noble family from the diocese of Würzburg. Already before 1183 he was canon and after 1185 cathedral custodian of Bamberg. Since 1191 he has been proved as a priest and from 1196 to 1200 he was ~ Bamberg provost .

After the death of Bamberg Bishop Timo , he was elected as his successor between October 15, 1201 and January 1202. He received the regalia from King Philip in Halle in January 1202 . There he is said to have turned against the papal legate together with other princes in the German throne dispute. Presumably for this reason he was denied papal approval of the election of a bishop. He died on February 19, 1203 without having received the episcopal ordination and was buried in the crypt of the St. George's Choir in Bamberg Cathedral . His successor came again from the Andechs-Meranier family .
