Every book that described the history and culture of the Indians was read by him. Years later he was given the opportunity to spend a few months with members of Native American tribes in Wyoming and Montana . He filmed his experiences in the first color film option at the time, Kinemacolor . He later made the educational film Travels with Kinemacolor from the film recordings . Lawrence Grant continued to act in the theater even after his film career ended. When he gave four performances in a short time at the Santa Barbara Lobero Theater during a heat wave in the summer of 1951, his health was damaged. He died the following February at the age of 81.
