action

Experience teaches him how bad Mr. Hyde can be: he kills Ivy Peterson, who is interested in Dr. Jekyll has shown, and Sir Charles, his fiancée's father. In the end, Jekyll's best friend shoots Mr. Hyde, causing Dr. Jekyll also has to die since Hyde is part of him.
Reviews
"An interesting and technically well-solved psychoanalytical study based on R. L. Stevenson's novel, which, however, exaggerates the horror - excellently played in the title role."
“Although Spencer Tracy - who actually didn't want to take on the role - didn't get to Fredric March's interpretation of the double role of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde , but still plays very well. The female superstars of Hollywood at the time, Ingrid Bergman and Lana Turner, can be seen at Tracy's side. "
"A psychological crime thriller, which is designed so seriously that it gives rise to thinking about the good and bad in people."
Awards
The film was nominated for three Academy Awards at the Academy Awards in 1942 - Best Cinematography ( Joseph Ruttenberg ), Best Editing ( Harold F. Kress ) and Best Film Music ( Franz Waxman ) - but came out empty-handed.
