He also appeared with comedians such as the Marx Brothers (in The Marx Brothers in the department store ), Laurel and Hardy (in Laurel and Hardy: Horror of All Spies ) or Abbott and Costello (in Abbott and Costello in Hollywood ).
From the 1950s he increasingly took guest roles in television series such as The Lone Ranger , A Thousand Miles of Dust , Perry Mason , The Untouchables , Bonanza , The People of Shiloh Ranch , Lassie , High Chaparral or Smoking Colts . He also played the recurring role of Deputy Hal Norton in 57 episodes of the television series Wyatt Earp Intervenes . He ended his career in the early 1970s.
Willam Tanner married actress Donrue Leighton in 1935, but the marriage was soon divorced. He died on December 2, 1976 and was buried in Valhalla Memorial Park in North Hollywood .
