No case for the FBI is an American crime series , of which three seasons were produced between 1959 and 1962. In the third season, the episodes were now an hour long instead of 30 minutes.

Captain Matt Holbrook is the head of a specialty detective department in an undisclosed US city . He assembles his team of specialists in various types of crime such as murder , burglary and fraud . In the course of the series, the members change, only Holbrook and John Russo appear in all episodes. By dealing with various offenses, the respective specialists come to the fore.

Captain Matt Holbrook

Detective Captain Matt Holbrook is the head of the department, a very experienced officer. Work comes first for him and he demands the same discipline from his employees.

Det. Lt. Jim Conway

Detective Lieutenant James "Jim" Conway comes from Homicide . The womanizer is later replaced by the inexperienced Sergeant Chris Ballard.

Det. Lt. John Russo

Detective Lieutenant John "Johnny" Russo is a specialist in burglary. His trademark is the cigar .

Det. Lt. Otto Lindstrom

Detective Lieutenant Otto Lindstrom is next to the captain the most experienced employee of the department, his specialty is fraud. He is later replaced by Steve Nelson.

Det. Sgt. Chris Ballard

Detective Sergeant Chris Ballard replaces James Conway in the second season.

Det. Sgt. Steve Nelson

Detective Sergeant Steve Nelson joins the department in the last season of the series, replacing Otto Lindstrom.

From 1967 onwards, ZDF broadcast the half-hour episodes on Tuesdays in the evening program . Season three episodes were not purchased and dubbed ; these had been extended to 60 minutes by NBC. NBC also changed the title of the series from The Detectives to Robert Taylor's Detectives . The Hollywood actor was clearly the focus of the series. Taylor's wife Ursula Thiess starred as Lisa Bonay in 15 episodes of the series . Adam West only gained worldwide fame later as Batman . Scripts were written by Gene Roddenberry , Joseph Stefano , Donald S. Sanford , Borden Chase and Howard Dimsdale , among others . Guest stars included Edward G. Robinson , Telly Savalas , Michael Constantine , Diane Ladd , Martin Landau , Robert Culp , James Coburn , Bruce Dern , Vera Miles and Michael Parks .

DVD

In 2011 the first season was released on DVD in Germany, followed by the second season in 2012. In 2015 a complete box was released, but only contained the 59 synchronized episodes.
