Sergeant Preston (original title Sergeant Preston of the Yukon ) is an American television series from 1955, which takes place at the end of the 19th century in Canada's Yukon Territory on the border with Alaska . It replaced the radio play series of the same name , which had been broadcast continuously since 1938. It was first broadcast on CBS from September 29, 1955 to September 25, 1958 . Sergeant Preston was one of the first color television series to be broadcast in Germany.
action
Sergeant Preston is a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police , the Canadian gendarmerie . Together with his service dog King and his horse Rex, he ensures law and order in the Yukon Territory. At the end of each episode, Preston caresses his loyal companion and says to him: "King, the case can be filed!".
Production notes
The series was shot in Colorado . King is not, as the series suggests, a husky , but an Alaskan Malamute . The title melody is taken from the overture to the comic opera Donna Diana .
The ZDF broadcast 26 episodes from May 6, 1967; 27 more were broadcast on ProSieben in 1991/92 .
