Josh (Original title: Wanted: Dead Or Alive , German alternative title: Der Kopfgeldjäger ) is an American western series that was produced from 1958 to 1961. It is an offshoot of the Trackdown series . The series, shot in black and white , marked the international breakthrough for Steve McQueen .

Josh Randall is a bounty hunter in the wild west. He is supported by former sheriff Jason Nichols. He doesn't talk much and wears a shortened Winchester '92 that he uses to shoot faster than his opponents, who mostly use revolvers.
Charisma
Originally, the first broadcast in Germany was planned for 1978. Although some scenes of violence had already fallen victim to the scissors, the brutal context of the series was retained. On October 20, 1979, the premiere took place in the night program of ZDF, for which the episodes filmed in black and white were colored in. By September 13, 1980, 26 episodes had been shown. In 1991 and 1992 further episodes under the title The Bounty Hunter were broadcast on ProSieben .
DVD
In July 2013, the restored version of the first season was released in Germany on DVD (regional code 2).
