action

In a bar, the spirited Vince Everett is dragged into a fight by a stranger. Vince strikes once too often, the stranger dies. Vince is sentenced to 14 months in prison for negligent homicide . In the prison environment, he develops into a cold- hearted cynic . His cellmate, country singer Hunk Houghton, realizes that Vince is a vocalist after a prison TV show and signs him.

After Vince's release, he met Peggy, the young advertising assistant for a record company. Both start their own record company. Vince becomes a star under Peggy's direction. But because of his arrogant manner, he doesn't notice that Peggy sees him as more than just a business partner - she loves him.

Vince is now also working with his old prison buddy Hunk after his release. Vince treats Hunk in such a humiliating way that one day Vince casts himself down in anger and seriously injures his larynx. This calls into question his further career.
