Eva Vaitl (born January 24, 1921 in Munich ; † in August 1988 there ) was a German actress and voice actress .

Life

Eva Vaitl initially trained as an actor and made her stage debut in Oldenburg in 1940. Theater engagements in Wroclaw and Munich followed. She celebrated successes as a character actress at the Munich State Theater and as a Bavarian folk actress.

In 1939 she made her feature film debut alongside Maria Cebotari in the Italian-German co-production Die Premiere der Butterfly . This was followed by roles in Kurt Hoffmann's post-war film The Lost Face (alongside Marianne Hoppe and Gustav Fröhlich and Bruno Hübner ), in literary adaptations such as Rosen im Herbst (based on Theodor Fontane's Effi Briest ), Bernarda Alba's House based on Federico García Lorca (with Elisabeth Flickenschildt in the title role ) as well as Martin Held in Disorder and Early Suffering after Thomas Mann , in Helmut Käutner's love drama Monpti (with Romy Schneider and Horst Buchholz ), Kurt Hoffmann's imaginative comedy Der Engel, who moved his harp and several comedies based on plays by Ludwig Thoma ( The Medal , The local railway ). In 1959 she also played the officer's widow Borchert, the mother of Jürgen ( Frank Glaubrecht ), in Bernhard Wicki's war drama Die Brücke . Eva Vaitl also took on guest roles in television series such as Der Kommissar , The Strange Methods of Franz Josef Wanninger and the Royal Bavarian District Court .

In addition, Eva Vaitl worked intensively in dubbing from 1947 onwards. Although her dubbing activity was only 16 years, she was one of the busiest speakers and lent her voice to international stars such as Ingrid Bergman (in The House of Lady Alquist , For Whom the Hour Strikes , Doctor and Demon and The Bells of St. Mary ), Olivia de Havilland (in her double role in Der Schwarze Spiegel ), Greta Garbo ( The Woman with Two Faces ), Ava Gardner ( Avenger of the Underworld ), Katharine Hepburn (in The Night Before the Wedding and Clara Schumann's Great Love ), Sophia Loren ( Love , Bread and 1000 Kisses and A Woman for Weak Hours ), Elizabeth Taylor ( Giants ), Gene Tierney ( Mortal Sin ) and Jane Wyman ( The Wilderness Calls ).

In 1975 she was awarded the Bayerischer Poetentaler and in 1979 the Schwabing Art Prize. Eva Vaitl died in August 1988 at the age of 67 in her hometown of Munich and was buried in the old part of the Munich forest cemetery.
