Katja Römer-Schuurman (born February 19, 1975 in Bunnik ) is a Dutch actress .

Schuurman took her first steps as an actress while she was still at school. In 1992 she worked in the series Uit de school geklapt of the Dutch broadcasting company NCRV . After graduating from high school, she played several small roles in television series.

Schuurman made her breakthrough in the role of "Jessica Harmsen" (1995–1999) in the series Goede tijden, slechte tijden , the Dutch counterpart to the German soap opera Gute Zeiten, Bad Zeiten . At the height of the show's popularity, she recorded the single Ademnood with her series colleagues Guusje Nederhorst and Babette van Veen under the band name Linda, Roos & Jessica , which was number 1 in the Dutch charts for seven weeks at the end of 1995. When Schuurman and her close friend Cas Jansen left the series in the spring of 1999, the ratings fell by more than 20 percent.

In December 1999, Schuurman hit the headlines when she caused a traffic accident while drunk.

According to Goede tijden, slechte tijden , she starred in various films. Among other things, she appeared briefly in the Bret Easton Ellis film adaptation of The Rules of the Game in 2002 . In 2003 she had a leading role in the film The Interview of the 2004 murdered film director Theo van Gogh . In this film, she played herself as a soap opera actress and her apartment served as a backdrop. A year after the murder of van Gogh, she hosted the BNN documentary Prettig weekend, ondanks everything , in which the journalist Stan de Jong analyzes the police investigation into the Hofstad group .

Katja Schuurman is the older sister of the singer and actress Birgit Schuurman .
