Goede tijden, slechte tijden (GTST) is the first soap opera on Dutch television. It is based on the Australian series The Restless Years , as is the German series Gute Zeiten, haben Zeiten .
history
GTST has been broadcast by RTL 4 since 1990 (started a year earlier as the first private broadcaster in the Netherlands) and has so far had over 5000 episodes. Everything revolves around the Alberts, Bouwhuis, De Jong, Sanders, Selmhorst and Van Houten families from the city of Meerdijk (outdoor photos are taken in Velsen and Heemstede ). Since 2010 the interior shots are no longer shot in Aalsmeer , but in Amsterdam .
The soap opera has between 1.5 and 1.9 million viewers for each episode. Unlike what is usually the case with soap operas, GTST takes a summer break every year.
