Babette Westerweel-van Veen (born April 30, 1968 in Utrecht ) is a Dutch actress and singer .

Career

Van Veen was born the daughter of the songwriter Herman van Veen and Marijke Hoffman. After her parents separated, she grew up in Breukelen with her mother and stepfather. After attending secondary school, she studied at Studio Herman Teirlinck in Antwerp .

At the beginning of the 1990s she became known to a broad television audience through the role of Linda Hamans-Dekker in the early evening series Goede tijden, slechte tijden , which she embodied from 1990 to 1998 and 2005 to 2006. During this time, together with her serial colleagues Guusje Nederhorst and Katja Schuurman, the girls' trio Linda, Roos & Jessica was created , with whom she landed the number one hit Ademnood, among other things . Since summer 2015 she can be seen again in the role of Linda Dekker as an integral part of the series. After leaving Goede tijden, slechte tijden for the first time in 1998, van Veen appeared in several smaller roles in film and television. The film Nachtvlinder was made under the direction of her father in 1999 , where she plays next to Karin Bloemen and Ramses Shaffy .

On August 27, 1998, she married the television presenter Bas Westerweel and subsequently retired professionally. She gave birth to her first child on April 1, 2000. Between September 2002 and May 2003 she took part in the performance of the musical Aladdin . On April 25, 2004, she gave birth to a second son. In the same year she went on tour with the musical theater show De Kameleon Ontvoerd , an adaptation of the book of the same name by Hotze de Roos . In it, she played the role of Mem Klinkhamer, who was portrayed in the film adaptations of Dominique van Vliet . In 2005 she made her comeback in Goede tijden, bad tijden . In 2006 she took part in the television show Dancing on Ice , a co-production by VTM and RTL 4 .
