Ludwig Hartau (born February 19, 1877 in Trachenberg , Militsch district , province of Silesia , † November 24, 1922 in Berlin ) was a German actor.

Life

The well-known theater actor and lecturer, whose students included Ursula Krieg , at the age of 35 dared to jump into the still young profession of film. He only made his breakthrough to a sought-after film actor after 1916.

He appeared in numerous silent films under directors such as Ernst Lubitsch and Fritz Lang . In Hans Steinhoff's strip The false Dimitry he was originally scheduled to star as Ivan the Terrible. Ludwig Hartau died in 1922 at the height of his film career.
