Pejman Hadadi

Pejman Hadadi (born February 19, 1969 in Tehran ) is an Iranian percussionist, composer and music teacher.

Hadadi began ten year training as a Tombak player at Assadollah Hejazi , which he later Bahman Rajabi continued. It was also shaped by recordings by the masters Hossein Tehrani , Nasser Farhangfar and Morteza Ayan . Inspired by Bijan Kamkar, he also learned the Daf game on an autodidactic basis .

In 1989 he emigrated to the USA, where he began a professional music career in 1991. He was initially a member of the groups Oshagh and Nava and then gave a series of concerts with Hossein Alizadeh . In 1995 he joined the Dastan Ensemble , with which he made numerous critically acclaimed recordings. With Behnam Samani , Reza Samani , Hakim Ludin , Javid Afsari Rad and Morshed Mehregan , he founded the Zarbang percussion ensemble in 2000 , with which the albums Rengineh , Middle Eastern and World Percussion and Call to Love were created.

Besides Hadadi worked with numerous other musicians like Hossein Alizadeh , Shahram Nazeri , Homayoun Shajarian , Kayhon Kalhor , Parissa , Shujaat Hussain Khan , Omar Faruk Tekbilek , Hossein Omoumi , Sima Bina , Salar Aghili , Ali Akbar Moradi , Hafez Nazeri , Ardeshir Kamkar , Matthaious Tsahourides , Nejati Celik , Halil Karadoumon , Yair Dalal , Imamyar Hasanov , Rajeeb Chakraborti , Adam Rudolph , Brad Dutz , Gregg Ellis and Yuval Ron . He also studied tabla for two years .

Hadadi developed a tunable frame drum called Pezhvāk or Davaayer-e Kooki , and in collaboration with Remo , a company that manufactures drum heads and percussion instruments, a synthetic skin for the Daf frame drum. In addition to his concert activities, he teaches percussion instruments and in 1999 founded the Neyreez World Music Institute , where he gives master classes alongside other musicians. For his services to Persian music, he was twice awarded the Durfee Foundation Master Musician Award .

Hadadi has been working as a composer in Europe and North America since 1999 with the dancer and choreographer Banafsheh Sayyad and her ensemble NAMAH . He received compositions from the Los Angeles Master Choral and was active as a film musician.
