Silesian poppy seed cake

Schlesischer Mohnstriezel or Schlesischer Mohnstrietzel ( Silesian Schläscher Mohstriezel or Schläscher Mohstrietzel , East Lusatian Schläscher Mohstriezl ) are traditional pastries in Silesian cuisine and are traditionally eaten in Silesia at Christmas and Easter .

The dough is made from flour , egg yolk , milk , butter and yeast . The poppy seed filling consists of ground poppy seeds , raisins , rum and vanilla ; the almond filling made from raisins, rum, lemon peel and chopped almonds. The dough is rolled out thick. The filling is spread over the dough, which is then rolled up into an even cylinder, coated with egg yolk, sprinkled with crumble and baked in the oven.
