As Striezel (also Strietzel ) is called in the German and Austrian cuisine , a pastry made from yeast dough (dough). In eastern and central Germany, it is used to describe elongated baked goods made from yeast dough. It is synonymous with Stollen , but cakes such as poppy seed strudel are also called that. In Bavaria and Austria , however, striezel is a yeast plait , while filled yeast dough rolls are called strudel .
