Carolyn Bosher Maloney (born February 19, 1946 in Greensboro , North Carolina ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party . She has been a member of the United States House of Representatives for New York State since 1993 .

biography

Maloney was born in Greenboro. She completed her school career at Greensboro College . In 1970 she came to New York City and decided to stay. In 1982 she was elected to the New York City Council . She was a member until 1991 and again in 1992.

In 1993 she was elected to the US House of Representatives for New York's 14th Congressional District. Your constituency includes parts of Manhattan , Queens, and Roosevelt Island . After a redesign in 2013, it represents the 13th congressional electoral district of its state, which geographically largely corresponds to its previous one. She is or was a member of the Finance and Supervisory Committee (Oversight and Reform) and the Economic Committee , which she chaired between 2009 and 2011. Since the death of Elijah Cummings in October 2019, she has chaired the oversight committee, which plays a central role in the impeachment investigation against Trump during Donald Trump's presidency .

Maloney is widowed and lives in New York City. She is of the Presbyterian faith .
