Thomas Francis Burchill (born August 3, 1882 in New York City , † March 28, 1960 there ) was an American politician . Between 1943 and 1945 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Thomas Francis Burchill attended St. Francis Xavier High School in New York City and then went to Niagara University in Niagara Falls , which he left with a Bachelor of Arts . He worked (as an auctioneer and appraiser appraiser ), but also went to 1900 in New York City insurance transactions after. Burchill was a member of the New York State Assembly between 1919 and 1924 and the New York Senate between 1924 and 1938 . In 1938 he was a member of the New York World's Fair Commission . Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party .

In the 1942 congressional election for the 78th Congress , Burchill was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 15th constituency of New York , where he succeeded Michael J. Kennedy on January 4, 1943 . Since he refused to run again in 1944 , he resigned from Congress after January 3, 1945 .

After his time in Congress, he went back to his previous business in New York City. He worked as a consultant and alien property custodian. He died on March 28, 1960 in New York City and was buried in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne .
