Nathan David Perlman (born August 2, 1887 in Poland , † June 29, 1952 in New York City ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1920 and 1927 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Nathan David Perlman and his mother immigrated to the United States in 1891 and settled in New York City. There he attended public schools and the College of the City of New York (now New York University ). In 1907 he graduated from New York University Law School . He was admitted to the bar in 1909 and then began practicing in New York City. Between 1912 and 1914 he was Special Deputy Attorney General of New York. He was a member of the New York State Assembly between 1915 and 1917 . Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party .

He was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in a by-election on November 2, 1920 in the 14th  electoral district of New York to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Fiorello LaGuardia . In the regular congressional elections of 1920 he was elected to the following 67th Congress . It has been confirmed twice in a row. In 1926 he suffered during his re-election candidacy for the 70th Congress defeat and withdrew from the after March 3, 1927 Congress of.

After his time in Congress, Perlman went back to his practice as a lawyer. He participated as a delegate to the New York State Convention for the lifting of Prohibition . On May 1, 1935, he became magistrate in New York City - a position he held until September 1, 1936. He was appointed a judge in the Court of Special Sessions in New York City on November 26, 1936 . He was reappointed on July 1, 1945 and held that position in New York City until his death. He died on June 29, 1952 and was buried in Mount Hebron Cemetery in Queens County .
