Christopher Daniel "Christy" Sullivan (born July 14, 1870 in New York City , † August 3, 1942 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1917 and 1941 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Christopher Daniel Sullivan was born and raised in New York City about five years after the end of the Civil War . During this time he attended public schools, St. James Parochial School and St. Mary's Academy . In 1904 he went into real estate business. He was elected to the New York Senate in 1906 and was re-elected in 1908, 1910, 1912 and 1914, where he served until his resignation in 1916. Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party .

In the 1916 congressional elections for the 65th Congress , Sullivan was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 13th  constituency of New York , where he succeeded George W. Loft on March 4, 1917 . As a congressman, he chaired the Labor Department's Committee on Expenditures during that tenure . He has been re-elected eleven times in a row. Since he on a run again in 1940 renounced, he left the after January 3, 1941 Congress of.

After his time in Congress, he lived again in New York City, where he died on August 3, 1942. His body was buried in Calvary Cemetery , Woodside .
