Eli Perry

Eli Perry (born December 25, 1799 in Cambridge , Washington County , New York , † May 17, 1881 in Albany , New York) was an American politician .

Perry, who worked as a businessman in Albany between 1827 and 1851, was a member of the city's Board of Aldermen for two years . He was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1851 and was Mayor of Albany from 1851 to 1853, from 1856 to 1860, and from 1862 to 1866 . After Perry was elected as a Democrat to the House of Representatives of the United States , he represented the state of New York from March 4, 1871 to March 3, 1875. Perry died on May 17, 1881 in Albany. He was buried in the Albany Rural Cemetery .
