Joseph Mabett Warren

Joseph Mabbett Warren (born January 28, 1813 in Troy , New York , † September 9, 1896 there ) was an American politician . Between 1871 and 1873 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Joseph Mabbett Warren was born and raised in Troy during the British-American War . He attended local schools and in 1827 the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy. In 1834 he graduated from Washington College (now Trinity College ) in Hartford ( Connecticut ). He worked as a clerk in New York for a year . He then returned to Troy, where he ran a grocery wholesaler for several years. In 1840 he had a wholesale business for hardware ( hardware ). He held the post of Mayor of Troy in 1852. Between 1853 and 1865 he was a director of the Bank of Troy and the United National Bank of Troy and President of the Bank of Troy . He held the post of trustee at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In 1855 he was appointed commissioner of the Troy Water Works Company - a position he held until his resignation in 1867.

Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party . In the 1870 congressional elections for the 42nd Congress , Warren was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 15th constituency of New York , where he succeeded Adolphus H. Tanner on March 4, 1871 . Since he on a run again in 1872 renounced, he left the after March 3, 1873 Congress of.

After his time at Congress he went back to his previous business activities in Troy. He died there on September 9, 1896 and was then buried in Warren Chapel in Oakwood Cemetery .
