John W. Ferdon

John William Ferdon (born December 13, 1826 in Piermont , New York , † August 5, 1884 in Monmouth Beach New Jersey ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1879 and 1881 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

John William Ferdon graduated from Rutgers College (now Rutgers University ) in New Brunswick in 1847 . He studied law . After receiving his license to practice law, he began to practice. He was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1855 and the New York Senate in 1856 and 1857 . As a delegate, he took part in the Republican National Conventions in 1864 and 1876 . Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party .

In the congressional election of 1878 for the 46th Congress , Ferdon was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 14th constituency of New York , where he succeeded George M. Beebe on March 4, 1879 . Since he on a run again in 1880 renounced, he left the after March 3, 1881 Congress of.

He died on August 5, 1884 in Monmouth Beach and was buried in a private cemetery on Ferdon's estate in Piermont.
