Leo F. Ray fell

Leo Frederick Rayfiel (born March 22, 1888 in New York City , † November 18, 1978 in Wayne , New Jersey ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1945 and 1947 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Leo Frederick Rayfiel attended grade school and high school in New York City. In 1908 he graduated from New York University Law School . He was admitted to the bar in 1918 and then began practicing in Brooklyn . Between 1939 and 1944 he was a member of the New York State Assembly . Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party .

In the 1944 congressional election for the 79th Congress , Rayfiel was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 14th constituency of New York , where he succeeded Arthur George Klein on January 4, 1945 . In 1946 he was elected to the 80th Congress , but resigned from his seat on September 13, 1947 because of an appointment as judge.

He was a judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York - a position he held until his death. He died in Wayne on November 18, 1978 and was buried in Wellward Cemetery in Farmingdale .
