Richard P. Herrick

Richard Platt Herrick (born March 23, 1791 in Greenbush (now Rensselaer ), New York , † June 20, 1846 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . He represented New York State in the US House of Representatives in 1845 and 1846 .

Career

Richard Platt Herrick was born in Greenbush, Rensselaer County , about eight years after the War of Independence . In 1839 he was a member of the New York State Assembly . Politically, he was a member of the Whig Party . In the congressional elections of 1844 for the 29th Congress , Herrick was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the twelfth constituency of New York , where he succeeded David L. Seymour on March 4, 1845 . However, he died before the end of his term on June 20, 1846 in Washington DC and was then buried in Greenbush in the cemetery of the same name.
