Anson Brown

Anson Brown (* 1800 in Charlton , New York , † June 14, 1840 in Ballston Spa , New York) was an American lawyer and politician . He represented New York State in the US House of Representatives in 1839 and 1840 .

Career

Anson Brown attended public schools and graduated from Union College in Schenectady in 1819 . He studied law . After receiving his license to practice law, he began practicing at Ballston Spa. He was one of the first directors of Ballston Spa State Bank (now Ballston Spa National Bank ), which was founded in 1830. Politically, he was a member of the Whig Party . In the congressional elections of 1838 for the 26th Congress he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the eleventh constituency of New York , where he succeeded John I. De Graff on March 4, 1839 . He died before the end of his term on June 14, 1840 in Ballston Spa and was then interred in the Ballston Spa Cemetery Association cemetery.
