Killian Miller

Killian Miller (born July 30, 1785 in Claverack , New York , † January 9, 1859 in Hudson , New York) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1855 and 1857 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Killian Miller was born in Claverack, Columbia County , about two years after the Revolutionary War ended . He pursued an academic career. Miller studied law . After receiving his license to practice law, he began practicing in Livingston in 1806 . He was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1826 and 1828 . In 1833 he moved to Hudson, where he continued to work as a lawyer. Between 1837 and 1840 he worked as a clerk in Columbia County.

In the congressional elections of 1854 for the 34th Congress , Miller was elected for the opposition party in the twelfth constituency of New York in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Isaac Teller on March 4, 1855 . Since he on a run again in 1856 renounced, he left the after March 3, 1857 Congress of.

After his time at Congress he went back to his practice as a lawyer. He died in Hudson on January 9, 1859 and was then buried in Hudson City Cemetery . Civil war broke out about two years later .
