Nathaniel H. Odell

Nathaniel Holmes Odell (born October 10, 1828 in Greenburgh , New York , † October 30, 1904 in Tarrytown , New York) was an American politician . Between 1875 and 1877 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Nathaniel Holmes Odell attended private schools. He then worked in the steamship business on the North River . Between 1857 and 1861 he was a member of the New York State Assembly . He founded the First National Bank in Tarrytown, where he worked from 1,862 to 1,864 as a cashier ( cashier ). In 1866 he was appointed County Treasurer in Westchester County elected and re-elected in 1869 and 1872nd Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party .

In the 1874 congressional elections for the 44th Congress , Odell was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the twelfth constituency of New York , where he succeeded Charles St. John on March 4, 1875 .
