Zebulon R. Shipherd
Zebulon Rudd Shipherd (born November 15, 1768 in Granville , New York Province, † November 1, 1841 in Moriah , New York ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1813 and 1815 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Zebulon Rudd Shipherd was born in Granville, Washington County during the British colonial period . He completed his preliminary studies. Then he studied law . After receiving his license to practice law, he began practicing in Granville. Politically he belonged to the Federalist Party .
In the congressional elections of 1812 for the 13th Congress he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the twelfth constituency of New York , where he succeeded Arunah Metcalf after March 4, 1813 . He retired from the after March 3, 1815 Congress of.
After his time in Congress, he resumed his practice in Granville. Between 1819 and 1841 he was a trustee at Middlebury College in Middlebury ( Vermont ). He moved to Moriah, Essex County around 1830 , where he died on November 1, 1841. His body was then interred in Moriah Corners Cemetery .
