Thomas C. Ripley
Thomas C. Ripley (born January 2, 1807 in Schaghticoke ( New York ), date of death unknown) was an American lawyer and politician . He represented New York State in the US House of Representatives in 1846 and 1847 .
Career
Thomas C. Ripley was born in Schaghticoke, Rensselaer County , about five years before the outbreak of the British-American War . He received a modest education. Then he studied law . After receiving his license to practice law, he began practicing in Harts Falls . He worked as a farmer. Politically, he was a member of the Whig Party . On December 7, 1846, he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in a by-election in the twelfth constituency of New York to fill the vacancy created by the death of Richard P. Herrick . Since he did not run in the regular congressional elections of 1846 , he left the congress after March 3, 1847 . His date and place of death are unknown.
