Gerhard Bohlmann

Gerhard Bohlmann (born December 18, 1878 in Königsberg i. Pr. , † February 19, 1944 in Berlin ) was a German writer and journalist.

Life

Bohlmann was the son of the director of the Union foundry in Königsberg . He studied philology and German in Berlin and Königsberg. In 1909 he became a member of the Germania Königsberg fraternity . He registered as a war volunteer in 1914 and was awarded the Iron Cross First Class. After the end of the war he passed the state examination and initially worked as a feature editor for the Königsberger Allgemeine Zeitung . In 1924 he went from Königsberg to Berlin for the Telegraph Union . After they merged with other news agencies during the Nazi era , he worked for the German news office until his death in 1944 .

Bohlmann did not write his first novel until he was over 50. In his books he mainly turned to historical topics - from the early Middle Ages ( The Forgotten Kaiser ) to the Thirty Years War ( Wallenstein wrestles for the Reich ). The books were reprinted until the end of the 1950s and are only available in antiquarian versions today.

  • 1937: Wallenstein fights for the Reich - about Albrecht von Wallenstein and his time
  • 1942: The decision - is a Wallenstein wrestling for the novel that has been removed and reworked
