Cesare Galeotti (born June 5, 1872 in Pietrasanta , † February 19, 1929 in Paris ) was an Italian composer , conductor and pianist .
Life
Already at the age of 8 Galeotti gave concerts on the advice of his teacher Giovanni Sgambati at home and abroad and was celebrated as a child prodigy. In 1882 he came to Paris, where he was accepted into the pianist class of Antoine François Marmontel , later he studied composition with Théodore Dubois and Ernest Guiraud , organ with César Franck and piano accompaniment with Auguste Bazille . In 1885 he won the Premier Prix in piano. He later returned to Italy for a short time, where he received the Order of the Crown of Italy from Queen Margaret of Italy . His opera Anton , which was premiered on February 17, 1900 under the direction of Arturo Toscanini at the Teatro alla Scala , was well received by the audience and the press, but never established itself in the repertoire. In 1902 Galeotti returned to Paris and was accepted into the Legion of Honor . In 1914, with the outbreak of the First World War, Galeotti withdrew from musical life.
