Jürgen Gansäuer (born February 19, 1944 in Hahnenklee-Bockswiese ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 2003 to 2008 he was President of the Lower Saxony State Parliament .

Life

After attending primary school in Laatzen , Jürgen Gansäuer began an apprenticeship as a printer in 1958 , which he completed in 1961 with the journeyman's examination. Gansäuer was brought up in an Evangelical Lutheran way and after completing his training decided to start a voluntary diaconal year in the Rotenburg Works .

Already at this time he made his first contacts with politics. During his further training as an industrial clerk in the graphics industry, he joined the CDU in 1963 at the age of 19. In addition, he was involved in Christian associations such as the YMCA in his youth and became chairman of the Laatzen youth association . In 1968 Gansäuer finally became an independent businessman.

Nine years after joining the CDU, Jürgen Gansäuer became councilor of the city of Laatzen and remained so until 1991. Also in 1972, Gansäuer became a member of the district council in the Hanover district ; he held this office until 1994. Two years later, in 1974, he became chairman of the CDU district association Hannover-Land for seven years. From 1979 to 2008 he was chairman of the CDU district association in Hanover.

Jürgen Gansäuer was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 1974 to 2008. From 1982 to 1988 he was deputy chairman and from 1988 to 1994 chairman of the CDU parliamentary group.

In 1994 he became Vice President of the Lower Saxony State Parliament. After the victory of the CDU in the state elections in 2003 , he became president of the state parliament ; in addition, he was chairman of the committee for the preparation of the election of the members of the state court .

In the state elections in 2008 , Gansäuer did not run again for personal reasons. Since July 11, 2008 he has been the patron of the neighborhood aid and volunteer agency SPONTAN in Sarstedt .

Between 2008 and 2014 Jürgen Gansäuer studied as a full student at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . After completing his bachelor's degree in 2011 with history as a major and art history as a minor, he successfully completed his master's degree in history in 2014 . His thesis dealt with the diaries of Duke Wilhelm von Braunschweig, with whom the older line of the Welfenhaus died out in 1884 .

In February 2012, Prime Minister David McAllister awarded him the highest honor in Lower Saxony, the state medal.

Gansäuer has been the deputy chairman of the board of trustees at the Klosterkammer Hannover since February 2013 and in November 2013 wrote his book Welfen auf Englands Thron , which a.o. a. busy with the personal union, published.
