Elfrida Andrée
Elfrida Andrée (born February 19, 1841 in Visby , † January 11, 1929 in Gothenburg ) was a Swedish organist and composer .
The student of Ludvig Norman and Niels Wilhelm Gade was a representative of the women's movement . She was one of the first organists in the Scandinavian region. From 1861 she worked in Stockholm and in 1867 became organist at Gothenburg Cathedral . For her services she was elected a member of the Swedish Academy of Music .
Andrée's organ symphonies are performed to the present day. She also composed the opera Fritiofs saga (based on a text by Selma Lagerlöf , 1899), several orchestral works, a piano quintet (1865), a piano quartet (1870) and a piano trio (1887), violin and piano pieces, a Swedish mass and songs .
