On November 3, 2010 Kristovskis became Foreign Minister in the government of Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis . Just a few days after taking office, Kristovski had to face a motion of no confidence after an exchange of letters with a doctor became known which contained statements by the doctor that were perceived as anti-Russian. The motion was rejected by 51 votes from the ruling coalition against 36 votes from Saskaņas Centrs and Par Labu Latviju . In the elections for the 11th Saeima 2011, Kristovskis received the most minus dashes from the voters, slipped from number 1 on the Riga Vienotība electoral list to last place and did not receive a seat in parliament.
