Hugo Atzwanger
Hugo Atzwanger (born February 19, 1883 in Feldkirch ; † June 12, 1960 in Bozen ) was an Austrian painter, graphic artist, photographer and folklorist.
Life
After moving his parents to Brixen graduated Atzwanger 1903 at the city's Vinzentinum . He then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich , among others with Wilhelm von Diez and Gabriel von Hackl . From 1940 to 1943 he took numerous photographs in South Tyrol on behalf of the German Ahnenerbe Research Foundation . From 1949 to 1957 he documented the building stock of the North and East Tyrolean valleys on behalf of the Tyrolean provincial government .

- Around 23,000 of his photos are archived in the South Tyrolean Museum of Folklore in Dietenheim .
