The South Tyrolean State Museum for Folklore is located in Dietenheim near Bruneck in South Tyrol ( Italy ).

Exhibition space

The main seat of the museum is the Mair am Hof ​​residence from the late 17th century. The institution also has a four-hectare open-air area on which there are a double-digit number of reconstructed farmhouses, craft workshops and agricultural buildings, as well as farm gardens, fields, meadows, domestic animals and farm animals.

Collections

The museum's permanent collections include a complete pharmacy from the 19th century, numerous everyday objects and tools as examples of local folk art , a belt , a pipe and a zither collection.

organization

The museum was founded in 1976 and then headed by Hans Grießmair as director until 2003 . It has been part of the South Tyrolean provincial museums since 2003 .
