Hans Griessmair

Hans Grießmair (born November 11, 1938 in Kiens ) is a South Tyrolean folklorist .

biography

Griessmair graduated from the school of the monastery Neustift and then studied political science at the University of Innsbruck . With the dissertation The peasant servants in the Pustertal he received his doctorate in 1967 under Karl Ilg . He then returned to South Tyrol, where he joined the state service as a civil servant in 1974. As such, he was entrusted with setting up the South Tyrolean State Museum for Folklore in Dietenheim near Bruneck, which he headed for many years as director. He was also instrumental in setting up the South Tyrolean Wine Museum and the South Tyrolean State Museum for Hunting and Fishing . In addition, from 1972 he was editor of the monthly magazine for South Tyrolean regional studies, Der Schlern, for three decades .
