The Austrian Journal for Folklore was founded by Michael Haberlandt and Wilhelm Hein in 1895 as a journal for Austrian Folklore . Between 1919 and 1944 it was called Wiener Zeitschrift für Volkskunde , from 1944 to 1946 it was not published. From 1947 it is listed and counted as the “New Series”. It was published four times a year until 2011, and since 2012 in two double issues a year. It is published by the Association for Folklore in Vienna , which is associated with the Austrian Museum of Folklore .
As before, the management of the scriptures tries to guarantee the aim of the establishment of the foundation of all areas of the former Austro-Hungarian monarchy . Thematically, the range of topics ranges from the traditional canon to material and spiritual folk culture , museology and questions of contemporary folklore .
