The South Tyrolean State Museum for Cultural and Regional History serves to document and research the regional history of Tyrol . It is located at Schloss Tirol near Dorf Tirol in South Tyrol .

exhibition

The museum course focuses on the architectural history of Castle Tyrol and leads through the knight's hall and the lower and upper chapels. In the Imperial Hall, the most important pieces from the collection that is currently under construction are shown and medieval society is illuminated. In the following, the early modern times in Tyrol are presented with a focus on the administration of justice . The 19th century is viewed from the perspective of the contemporary reception of the “national monument” Castle Tyrol. The keep is dedicated to contemporary South Tyrolean history and was redesigned in 2016 as a tower of memories . Finds and findings from archaeological excavations in and around the castle are also presented.
