Carl Kraus (art historian)

Carl Kraus (also Karl Kraus ; * 1959 in Sterzing , South Tyrol ) is an Italian-Austrian art historian , author and curator .

Kraus completed a degree in art history and classical archeology at the University of Innsbruck , which he completed in 1986 with a dissertation on Ignaz Stolz .

Kraus is the author of numerous publications on the history of art in the 19th and 20th centuries. He works as a curator or co-curator for various South Tyrolean and Austrian exhibition centers.

Since 2000 he has been a sworn expert for art as an appraiser for the South Tyrolean and Tyrolean provincial governments and the Provincial Court for Civil Law Matters in Vienna , and since 2002 also as the scientific director of the Bolzano art auctions.

For Rai Südtirol he designed a large number of television documentaries about various artists from home and abroad.

Awards

In 1997, Carl Kraus received the Walther-von-der-Vogelweide sponsorship award from the Munich Cultural Center for South Tyrol.
