Ignaz pride
Ignaz Stolz (born April 20, 1868 in Bozen , † November 22, 1953 in Lana ) was a South Tyrolean painter. His brothers were the painters Rudolf Stolz (1874–1960) and Albert Stolz (1875–1947).
Life
Stolz completed three years of apprenticeship with a decorative painter from Innsbruck and then studied three years at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts . After fifteen unsuccessful years in Vienna , he returned to his hometown of Bolzano, where from the late 1920s he found recognition , especially as a portrait painter . The formal basis of his work was the painterly realism of the Munich School of the second half of the 19th century, in particular Wilhelm Leibl and the Leibl Circle . From this basis, Stolz took up suggestions from the Vienna Secession and Albin Egger-Lienz . In the years 1941–1944, Stolz took part in several National Socialist "Gau art exhibitions Tirol-Vorarlberg" in Innsbruck.
