Beckford attended Boys Town School on Collie Smith Drive in Trenchtown / Kingston in the 1940s . In 1955 he bought his first piano. Already in 1956 he played in the band of Cluett Johnson , Clue J & The Blues Blasters and probably recorded his later hit "Easy Snappin '" in the same year on the occasion of the first studio time of the young producer Clement Dodd , which was initially commercially in Jamaica and little in 1959 later appeared on record in England.
