The early work is shaped by Secession and Impressionism . The latter remains decisive until the mid-1930s. Then motifs of Realism and New Objectivity come to the fore. In his late work (from 1950) he devoted himself increasingly to abstraction . Lutz particularly addressed the phenomena of light and is therefore also called the “master of light”. His creative period lasted until 1988, when the last oil painting was created .
