Wolfgang Fritz (writer)

Wolfgang Fritz (born February 19, 1947 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian writer .

Life

Wolfgang Fritz spent his childhood in Steinach am Brenner . From 1963 he worked in a subordinate position in the tax office in Feldkirch . He made up his Matura on the second educational path and from 1977 worked in the tax office for the 9th, 18th and 19th districts in Vienna . There it was possible for him to complete a law degree. In 1981 he was transferred to the Austrian Ministry of Finance , where he headed the auditing department until 2003. Fritz, who had tried to write since his childhood, continued to write literary texts in addition to his official duties. In the 1980s he published two novels ; further completed works have so far only been published in excerpts. In 2000 and 2003 two scientific works by Fritz appeared from the history of the Austrian financial administration , in 2004 the novel "Das Bollwerk." Wolfgang Fritz was married to the writer Marianne Fritz . The author lives with his family in Vienna.

Wolfgang Fritz is a member of the Graz Authors' Assembly . In 2000 he received the Theodor Körner Prize . In 2007 he received the Great Silver Medal of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria. In 2017 he was awarded the title of Professor by the Federal President.
