Maik Timmermann , (born February 19, 1974 in Hamm ), pseudonyms Maik T. and The Leach , is a German musician, songwriter, producer and DJ.

Life

After a first experience as a singer of Mother Killed My Pig, a Neheimer punk band, learned Timmermann bass playing as a self-taught and founded with his friend Axel Hillebrand in the Sauerland Niederense the crossover band Another Sick Tribe, from 2003 Kill Kim Novak, later Andorra Atkins , emerged. At the same time he and his school friend Daniel Simon formed the indie rock band Som-A-Sault and the post-hardcore band Shellproof.

In 1998 he joined the hip-hop project V-Lenz and supported the duo on their first tour in the opening act of Joachim Witt as a background singer.

In 1999, Timmermann moved to Soest and in the same year joined the German indie avant-garde band Phillip Boa & The Voodooclub , where he was active until he left in 2016.

In the meantime, he was constantly working on his own material in his home studio, which he first presented in 2007 as How To Loot Brazil on the Internet platform MySpace . The first demos, a mixture of post-punk , electro, punk and pop, attracted the interest of Frank Popp , who unceremoniously released the debut album "Auto Fister" on his label TV Eye. “Auto Fister”, as well as all subsequent albums, received positive reviews in domestic and foreign blogs and indie fanzines without exception . Nevertheless, How To Loot Brazil parted ways with TV Eye Records and since then have released their entire oeuvre exclusively digitally on the band's own label Look! Mum! No hit! .

In 2011 won How To Loot Brazil one of the Beatsteaks proclaimed Cover contest with the single "Milk & Honey", making it the Soest producer Michael Kersting met. The first joint collaboration was the album “200 Days” by Leipzig artist LOT , in which Timmermann was involved as a songwriter, bassist and guitarist.

In 2014 he wrote and co-produced the Sondaschule album “Schön kaputt” together with Kersting and Tim Kleinrensing , as well as the following work “Schere, Stein, Papier”, which both entered the German album top ten.
